Automated production — guaranteed quality

By 2007 all equipment of Piteyniy Dom was replaced with high-tech Italian and German equipment by Bertani Boroco, Fimer, Pe Labellers Master M/S, Direct Flow and Siemens. Automation of production allows minimizing human factor and considerably improve the quality of manufactured products.
The state-of-art factory produces high quality strong alcohol. Producing a good vodka is a complex process where each point is of great importance. For the vodka connoisseurs quality is always the most important thing.

Stage one:
Creative.

roduct creation begins from the recipe development. This is the job for the best technologists. They test hundreds of ingredient combinations, choose the best ones and develop a special composition for each vodka flavor. The experts thoroughly study recipes used by the Russian distillers for centuries, learn from the experience of generations of the Piteyniy Dom technologists and meticulously chose the best practices.

Stage three:
Choosing an alcohol.

Only deluxe wheat alcohol is used at the factory for all types of strong liquor. The Piteyniy Dom experts meticulously choose the alcohol at the best Russian distilling plants. As we aim to constantly improve the quality of our vodka our technologists have special requirements for the alcohol suppliers and keep searching for the best of the best. Rich liquors and infusions are prepared only from natural ingredients such as allspice, lemon, grapefruit, cranberry or black currant. The high quality alcohol and natural ingredients are the pillars of our approach to production.

Stage five:
Filtration.

Before bottling vodka should pass through multistage purification system based on 4-stage filtration through a fabric filter, a press filter and 2 cartridge filters. The ideal filtration velocity is a big trade secret of Piteyniy Dom. The vodka filtered through all filters has a soft and balanced taste and aroma.

Stage two:
Water treatment.

Water is the soul of vodka and the most important ingredient. One of the reasons that the Piteyniy Dom factory was built in Maykop is that it is situated not far from the reserves of the Lago-Naki plateau pristine glacier water. The Lago-Naki plateau is situated in a biosphere reserve in Apsheron District and Big Sochi District of the Krasnodarsky Region and Maykop District of Adygea. The area of the plateau is about 650 sq.km. The highest point is the Fisht mountain, meaning “White Head” in Adygh. It is the westernmost glacier peak of Caucasus. Those parts are unavailable for human activity, which is the reason that the water there remained pristine. There is also a five-stage water treatment system installed at the factory ensuring its crystal purity.

The water is treated in stages:

  • 1 stage:
    mechanical cleaning from insoluble and suspended impurities by filtering water through the layers of particulate material.
  • 2 stage:
    softening by ion exchange by filtering through the ion exchange resin.
  • 3 stage:
    sorption purification from dissolved solids through active carbon.
  • 4 stage:
    sterilization with UV rays on a UV unit.
  • 5 stage:
    thin mechanical cleaning from insoluble impurities on a polypropylene thread cartridge surface.

Stage four:
Mixing.

Two major ingredients of vodka are water and alcohol mixed in the right ratio at the temperature of 15 degrees ensuring the ideal combination at the molecular level. This is what accounts for the quality of the future beverage as famous Russian chemist Mendeleev wrote in 1894 after finding the perfect alcohol-water ratio for vodka.
The blend is mixed at a Direct Flow unit with cinder and following filtering.
The present automated technology has several advantages compared with traditional methods used at many wineries, namely: precise mixing of alcohol and water at a set ratio; reduced human factor impact; control over the operating devices.
As a result this modern automated device produces a beverage of a most precise strength.

Stage six:
Bottling.

Vodka is bottled on modern German full cycle lines with the general rated capacity of 9000 bottles a day. All bottles are rinsed with softened water before filling, cleaning the inside. Then the bottles are filled with the ready product and sealed.

Quality control from first to the last step.

All raw and additional materials are checked in several stages according to the standards and regulations developed and implemented in the factory routine. The product quality is regularly checked by sensory analysis. The expert tasters with huge experience in alcohol sensory analysis check the appearance, color, smell, aroma and taste of the product.
Physical and chemical properties are controlled by aldehyde, fusel oil, ester and methanol gas chromatography using a gas chromatograph with a flame ionization detector, capillary column and an automatic measuring device. The high quality raw materials, latest equipment, strict laboratory control and the ambition to win a leading position at the alcohol market account for the precise following of all the production technology.
